Platform
Chevron LL-652 complex consists of a central production
facility bridge-linked to a water injection and a
compression platform.
Challenge
The 6000-ton production deck was the largest ever lifted
using the Versatruss system. Chevron required verification
of the strength and ductility of a number of components
critical to the planned Versatruss installation of three
integrated decks.
MSL
Scope
MSL undertook independent finite element analyses to
assess the stress distribution and magnitude of peak
stresses for two critical locations. The first was the
Versatruss boom to deck interface and the second was the
penetration of each of the deck legs by two 5-inch thick
sister plates.
Benefits
MSL’s reports assisted the client in achieving approval
from the marine warranty surveyor for the Versatruss
installation of the integrated decks.
